Happy Birthday Lorenzo!!!

Lorenzo turned 12 today!!!
Here he is at the head of the table for our celebration.

Super Springy Speech Group!

In honor of the first week of spring, Ms Kempke did a really fun speech group! Ms. Kempke talked about the changes that happen during spring. This was the perfect lead into her cooking activity! They made edible flower pots!
In addition to a fun cooking activity, Ms Kempke brought a special visitor, her niece Kristin!

Check out all the bloomin' fun!

Kempke handing Lorenzo his flower to "plant" in his pot. The flowers were made from a pretzel stick, salerno butter cookie, and gummy fruit slices.

Happy St. Patty's Day!

Today we had a great party and Ms. Connelly's class came over to help us celebrate! We made "shamrock shakes" of our own, had mint chocolate chip ice cream, green river floats, and lots of other special treats!

Here is Diego helping me make the shakes! His jelly bean switch is hooked up to the blender!

Everyone had so much fun and left the party on a full stomach!

Special thanks to Ms Kempke for bringing in mint chocolate chip ice cream when she was sick!  Thanks Kempke!

This Week We've Been Learning About...

All Kinds of Weather!

We have been learning about weather and temperature and how it changes with the seasons. We have been meteorologists this week tracking and charting the weather. At the end of two weeks we are going to observe how it has changed.

Here is Lorenzo adding on another day of weather results!

Here are Anthony and Lorenzo reading a short story about the types of weather and how to dress appropriately.

We also have been talking about wind and how it can be measured. Here we are making wind socks. We talked about how we can measure the wind by how the streamers move.

We glued on different cut outs to represent spring!
Anthony adding some streamers!

Check Out What We've Been Up To!

Last Thursday, March 10th we had a special breakfast! We made pancakes!
Everyone really enjoyed them!
Anthony mixing up some batter!
Diego helping mix it up!

On Friday the 11th, to bring an end to our unit on Habitats we watched a great movie about rain forests and borrowed the popcorn machine! Our room was like a real movie theater!
We had authentic popcorn containers!
Carol and Marilyn are the best popcorn poppers!

Speech Group about Animal Homes

In speech group this week Ms. Melissa continued our unit theme of animal homes and brought one of Kempke's favorite recipes to make. They had lots of opportunity to practice requesting items!
They used chow mein noodles, butterscotch chips, and peanut butter for the nests and peeps for the birds!

Here's Shannon mixing up the ingredients for his nest!

It looks like a wind storm may have gotten the best of Lorenzo's nest!

Amaya is so proud!
