Everyone had a great today! We were quite busy with our PBIS assemblies today. Kerkstra is implementing a school wide behavior management system and all the Co-op classrooms are on board! PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. We have a new set of school rules and set list expectations for each location at school. The students are to follow the "Cougar Code", which says to be respectful, be responsible, and be safe. When students are caught being good they are going to be rewarded with tokens. Those tokens can be traded in for prizes! Room 24 will follow this new system and continue to reward positive behavior throughout the day!
Today we visited five different locations for about 25 minutes each and saw a presentation at each one! Our class did such a great job!!! Everyone followed the rules and schedule and listened to the teachers presenting at each station. Even though this schedule was nothing like our regular routine everyone had an awesome first day back!

- Clorox Clean Up Wipes
- 3 ring binder
- paint shirt (large, loose fitting old button-up or t-shirt)

Dear Parents/Guardians,
Welcome to the 2010-2011 school year! I hope everyone had a wonderful summer. My name is Stephanie Bartkowski and I am excited to say that I will be your student's teacher for the upcoming year! I have a fun-filled school year planned with lots of challenge, learning, and excitement. I'd like to use this letter to share with you some important news and announcements!
- We've moved! Since another SWCOOP classroom will be joining us at Kerkstra, we have moved from room 17 to room 24. The major change that comes with the new room is that the extension to reach us by phone is different. If you need to reach me by phone please dial 708-535-4747 extension 1024. Parents/Guardians please call the classroom if your student is going to be absent for the day.
- I have started a classroom website! In order to keep up with technology and further open the lines of communications between teacher and parents/guardians I have a blog! In a nutshell, it is a website I plan to use to throughout the year to post important dates, field trip information, classroom happenings, helpful links, pictures, parent resources, you name it! Check it out and check it often!
- Open house will be on Thursday, August 19th from 6:30 - 8:00pm. Please come! I would love to meet with you, talk about the upcoming year, introduce you to staff, and show you the new room!
-The first day of school is on Friday, August 20th! Please be aware that this day is 11:45 early dismissal.
